We explore the rich cultural heritage of India, the
links with the Great Mughal Empire and an insight into the importance religion
plays in India's
history. Discover the world of the holy Hindus who bathe in the Ganges at sunrise, and praise the fruits of the earth.
Our journey takes us into the royal heart of Rajasthan, where your
accommodation is in the palaces of the Maharajahs. Staying in these places
gives visitors a real feel of how life was lived here. We. immerse
ourselves in the ancient and splendorous culture of the cities of this desert
state with its forts and palaces, absorbing the many religious images that give
India's its rich cultural fabric today
From here, our journey into Nepal takes on
greater meaning we appreciate the subtle, and not so subtle, differences
between Nepalese and Indian culture. Kathmandu
is a cultural hotbed of entwined histories and fascinating cultural encounters
that never disappoint, making it one of the most popular and sought-after
destinations in South Asia. It truly is a
place for travellers to realise their dreams.
DAY1 DELHI
You are met upon arrival in Delhi and you transfer to your hotel.
DAY2 DELHI
After breakfast at the hotel, we head out by car for a
comprehensive tour of Delhi. We visit the beautiful Jama Masjid, the
largest mosque in India.
From here we go to the imposing Moghul Red Fort and Ghandi Samadi (the hallowed
cremation ground of Ghandi), before taking a walk through the labyrinth of
frenetic streets that make up Chandni Chowk, the vivid, colourful bazaar abuzz
with the life and soul of Old Delhi.
After Old Delhi, the tree-lined boulevards of New Delhi seem startlingly spacious. We
stop for lunch in Connaught Place,
which houses many famous restaurants with a good choice of different cuisine.
After lunch we start our tour of New Delhi at the enchanting Laxmi Narayan
Temple, and take a drive past The Presidents House to India Gate. We spend time
enjoying the peace and tranquillity of Humayan's Tomb, and marvelling at the Bhai Temple
(a perfect lotus-shaped temple) and Qutab Minar.
In the evening there is time for shopping before viewing a spectacular
light and sound show at the Red Fort. We return to the hotel for dinner
and rest.
DAY3 DELHI - UDAIPUR
Transfer for your flight to the romantic city of Udaipur, where you are met and
transferred to your hotel.
DAY4 UDAIPUR
Morning city sightseeing tour, visiting the temples and palaces of this
cultural centre. A beautiful and romantic city, it is composed of a
number of irresistible gardens and lakes that give it air of transcendence of
the mundane. Nothing here is unremarkable; everything has a special and
heart-lifting charm, and an arts scene dating back centuries continues to drum
an incessant beat here. A city tour is arranged to take in the City Palace
and wonderful museum and the Jagdish
Temple. The
afternoon is free to relax or take a boat ride on Pichola Lake.
DAY5 UDAIPUR - JODPHUR
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Jodphur. On arrival you are met and
transfer to your hotel. The afternoon is free to relax and explore.
DAY6 JODPHUR
Jodhpur is the famous, blue-hued fortress city of
Rajasthan, situated right on the edge of the Thar Desert. Time is spent
visiting the massive, battle-scarred Meharnagarth Fort on the edge of this
strategic town, and exploring the fascinating historical museum, which details Jodhpur's past as a city
well worth fighting for.
DAY7 JODPHUR
- JAIPUR
Transfer for your flight to Jaipur. On arrival you are met and transfer to your
hotel for rest and leisure.
DAY8 JAIPUR
Morning city sightseeing tour of the Pink City of Jaipur. Jaipur was constructed in 1727 out of local pink sandstone
that glows gloriously in the setting sun, providing a spectacular backdrop to
the typical Rajasthani cultural sights that continue to thrive here in their
traditional manner. We take time to absorb the charms of this wonderful
city, visiting
the elaborate City
Palace and the Royal
Observatory. Then we make a special journey to the Amber Fort
outside the city walls. Ride up to the fort in style on the broad back of
an elephant, and again taste the life once lived by reigning Maharajahs.
DAY9 JAIPUR - AGRA
Departure by road to Agra, 235 kms away. On the way, we stop to visit the
deserted city of Fatephur Sikri.
Fatepur Sikri was abandoned when the town’s water supply dried up, and taking a
wander through its deserted streets is a surreal yet valuable
experience. On arrival at Agra,
you check into your hotel.
DAY10 AGRA - ORCHHA
Morning city sightseeing tour, starting at the immortal Taj Mahal. We
spend several hours exploring this sacred sight and learning its history before
exploring Agra’s
Red Fort set high above the city. In the afternoon, we set off by car for
the ancient haveli town of Orchha.
On arrival, we check into your hotel.
DAY11 ORCHHA
- KHAJURAHO
We set out in the morning to explore the fantastic temples and palaces of this
Bundela town. Nearby is the seven-story palace of Bir Singh Deo,
decorated with colourful frescoes and miniature paintings that depict the love
story between Radha and Lord Krishna. We visit the Ram Raja Temple, the only site in India where
Lord Rama is worshipped as a king. In the afternoon we continue our
journey by road, reaching Khajuraho by evening and settling into your hotel.
DAY12 KHAJURAHO - VARANASI
Morning sightseeing tour of the temples of this mystical city. We spend
the morning in awe of the impressive rock temples that draw visitors from
around the world. The erotic carvings on the temple walls have been the
subject of decades of speculation and mystery. In the afternoon we connect
with your flight to Varanasi,
where you are met on arrival and transfer to your hotel.
DAY13 VARANASI
Varanasi is the most sacred city of all for Hindus, and for visitors it never
fails to hold a special place in memories of India. We take a morning
tour to the birth place of Lord Buddha at Sarnath, and in the afternoon we tour
of the sights of Varanasi,
visiting the Golden and Annapurna Temples and the sacred cremation ground at
Jalsain Ghat on the River Ganges.
DAY14 VARANASI - KATHMANDU
We head out at dawn by boat onto the water of the
sacred River Ganges, where the air is already alive with the activity of devout
pilgrims cleansing mind and soul in the light of the rising sun. It is a
humbling and unforgettable sight. We then transfer
for your flight to Kathmandu, where you
are met on arrival and transfer to your hotel.
DAY15 KATHMANDU
Morning excursion to Patan to see the ancient Buddhist monuments and Hindu
temples, including Bhatgaon and Bodnath. The afternoon is at leisure to
explore Kathmandu's wonderful markets, and to
get a thrilling taste of Nepalese culture and cuisine.
DAY16 KATHMANDU
We transfer to the airport or station for your onward destination. Tour
ends.
